Subject – Steventon Road, London W12. V1 or V2 Strike. 14 February, 1945
Any information regarding the strike would be welcomed. I was living with my grandparents in Tamarisk Square not far from the strike and remember seeing the damage the next morning, I was 5 at the time! Unfortunately, I slept throughout the whole incident and have no recollection of it. I think I remember playing in the rubble for days afterward, but I’m not sure. Any information, newspaper clippings. old photographs or anything at all!
I was born at No.51 Creighton Road, Tottenham, N.17 and on the 15th March, 1945 one of the last V2 rockets fell at the corner of White Hart Lane and Queens Street killing two boys from Tottenham Grammar School (now demolished) and injuring many other according to Dr. Harry Landsman.
My mother always related to me that as our house was opposite the school the blast smashed all the glass in our windows.
My brother retrieved a piece of the rocket but it disappeared when my mother moved in 1970.
Are there any other children who have memories of the event as it was obvious a big event in my parents life.
