I was born three years after this incident and lived in Ridgeway East, which runs parallel, and my bedroom window, which was metal framed, would never close properly, apparently as a result of this blast!
My mother, who used to come home on the 132 bus from Eltham, said the conductor used to call out the nearby stop on Blackfen Road as “Hellfire Corner”!
